Normally, the oven is associated with good food, pleasant flavors, and a general feeling of warmth, both literally and figuratively. However, when it comes to cleaning it, things are totally different. Even though it can be a 5-minute task, some people consider it very nasty and choose to ignore it, by simply closing the oven door. The problem is that, if you do that for too long, not only bad smells but also grease and grime will start to form and accumulate inside it. The good news is that it’s not too late: you can always take advice from a highly-trained expert in professional cleaning services – we promise you that you won’t be “afraid” of this job anymore.

We talked to an employee of Home & Business Services – HBSOnTime.com. They are a family-owned local company operating in the Greater Fredericksburg Area, VA since 2013. Apart from professional cleaning services (residential, commercial, air ducts, windows, carpets), they also offer handyman services, turnkey services, and home maintenance.

“First of all, you must take care that the oven is switched off and cooled down, of course. The next step is to clean the oven racks, and then mix a solution of baking soda and water. Mix it until it looks like a paste. The other things you’ll need are white vinegar, a damp dish cloth, rubber gloves, and a spray bottle. Next, spread the paste all over the oven, including the glass door. Use rubber gloves if things get too grimy and don’t worry if the paste turns brownish – it’s normal”, the expert in professional cleaning services says.

“After you covered the entire inside of the oven, let the paste sit for 12 hours or overnight. Meanwhile, you can order takeout. After the 12 hours, take a damp dish cloth and wipe down the interior as much as you can. If there is hardened baking soda, you can scrape it off with a spatula. Next, put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the whole interior of the oven, so that you ensure a thorough and sparkling clean. Don’t worry if foam starts to appear inside the oven, it’s the normal reaction between vinegar and baking soda”, the expert in professional cleaning services added.

“Last but not least, take a damp cloth and wipe everything down one last time. Take your time around every nook and cranny to make sure that there is no baking soda residue left. Spray some extra vinegar to ensure that your oven is now 100% clean. Once the interior is fully clean and dry, put the oven racks back inside, and you are ready to cook delicious meals again”, he said.

Of course, if you don’t have the necessary time or you don’t want to do the job yourself, you can always opt for professional cleaning services. Home & Business Services’ employees will be more than happy to help you thoroughly clean your oven and make it look new again.
